Chapter 2 Outline Memorization Work

Here are my acronyms for memorizing the topics of each chapter and the sub-topics of each chapter topic...

3 comments:

  1. Chapter 1:
SD PRT (South Dakota...pur-tee...in a Southern drawl): strategy, definitions, players, roles, theories.
    Each component (s, d, p, r, t...has its own acronym): s: pilot (this is a change, see below), d: pods, p: G-Cup; r: ag cave, t: Pens Ln.

    Chapter 2:
SAT OUTT: sections, areas, topics, outcomes, uses, tips, tools
    Each component: s: BRE LQ Pkr, a: RC SS, t: lifer, o: co-care, u: p a/l m, t: star, t: LG frt.

    Chapter 2 spelled out...

s: BRE LQ Pkr: business climate, resources, economy, labor force, quality of life, population, knowledge, r/e and infrastructure

a: RC SS: regional, city, sub-city (spec. biz district), sector

t: labor, infrastructure, financial resources, economic programs & svc, r/e (real estate) and equip.

o: challenges, obstacles, comparative adv, opinions, resources, environments

    u: project, assets/liabilities, monitor

    t: simple, time, area, relevant

t: LUDF, GIS, FIA, RLA, TIA

    ahhh...enough for now....

  2. Reviewing notes today...don't like the U (in SAT OUTT). If you look at the last paragraph on p. 13, there are CRITICAL things mentioned that are uses of the information. They include:

    educating public officials
    building public awareness and support
stimulate interest in idea (it could be argued whether this is separate or not.)

Accordingly, I am going to change the acronym from pa/lm to aim p3. p3 has meaning for me in that it is a local ed partnership in a nearby county. Hence, the letters are...

A: Identify the local ASSETS and potential liabilities that will affect local ed
I: Stimulating INTEREST in a/the program
M: MONITOR econ. performance over time.
P: Building PUBLIC awareness and support
    P: Educating PUBLIC officials
P: PROJECT or forecast local economic trends

  3. OK, a couple of additional weaknesses I've identified. One, what is called "t, topics" in the outline (see p. 16) is really existing resources that need to be identified and assessed: labor force, infrastructure, financial resources, existing programs and services, real estate and equipment. This should be changed to R.

Secondly, I missed a whole list of things on p. 14 under "Cause and Effect." Horrible title. This section deals with the types of DETAILED information you need to get. No acronym developed. It should be a D. Cat AC.

    C: development CAPACITY
    A: community ATTRIBUTES
    T: future TRENDS and developments
    A: current economic ACTIVITY
    C: local economic CONDITIONS

So, chapter acronym letters include SAR OUTT D. Hmmm. I use www.wineverygame.com/wbg.php to find new acronyms...very useful.

I like TUTORS AD. Tips, Uses, Tools, Outcomes, Resources, Sections, Areas, Detailed Info.

That would give the following sub-section acronyms:

    Tips: star
    Uses: aim p3
    Tools: lg frt
    Outcomes: co-core
    Resources: lifer
    Sections: BRE LQ pkr

    Areas: RC SS
    Detailed info: Cat AC
